Heineken Brewery
Heineken is known worldwide, but a bit of history can’t hurt! Everything began in 1864 when Gerard Adriaan, 22 years old, bought the Heineken brewery “De Hooiberg” in Amsterdam. In 1875, a second brewery is opened in Rotterdam, focusing on low-fermentation beers. Dr. Elion, a student of Louis Pasteur, developed in 1886 a yeast called “A-yeast”, still used in today’s famous Heineken beers.
