The history of...Brasserie d'Orval

Orval Trappist is brewed by Brasserie d'Orval in Belgium. It was founded in 1931 to finance large-scale renovations to the Orval Abbey. Even though the brewery is now run by laymen rather than monks, the brewery still takes its social obligations seriously. Each year, the profit is distributed among charities and social projects in the region. The bitter and fruity taste of Orval is one-of-a-kind among the thousands of beers in the Trappist beer segment. It’s no wonder that this beer is seen as an exclusive, artisanal beer within the Trappist world.
