Brasserie de l'Abbaye du Val-Dieu
The Cistercian Abbey of "Notre-Dame du Val-Dieu" was founded in 1216 by the monks of Hocht, near Maastricht. The valley where the abbey is located was called the "Valley of God" or "Val-Dieu" in French. Hence the name. The beers that are now brewed at the Abbey originate from traditions that have been taken over from the original Val-Dieu monks. It remains true to the tradition of the secondary fermentation in the bottle. The beers are real authentic Belgian Abbey beers, made without adding flavors or herbs and brewed according to the old infusion method. Divine!
