Brouwerij Jopenkerk
The Jopenkerk Brewery shows how beer can put a city back on the map. At its founding, Jopenkerk was commissioned by the city of Haarlem to revive the city’s brewing tradition. The starting point was two, centuries-old recipes discovered in the city’s archives. A recipe from 1407 resulted in Koyt. The other recipe from 1501 turned into Hoppen. The rest is history, as they say. Jopen has grown into an icon of Dutch craft beer, and quite rightly so.
