A little history about world-famous Heineken can do no harm! The company was founded in 1864 when Gerard Adriaan, 22 years old, bought Heineken brewery 'De Hooiberg' in Amsterdam. In 1875 a second brewery was opened in Rotterdam, completely focused on the brewing of bottom-fermented beer. Dr. Elion, a student of Louis Pasteur, developed the Heineken A yeast in 1886, which is still used as the basis for the Heineken beer.
