Christmas, the perfect time to enjoy good food and drinks. Our Christmas pack is the perfect addition to a delicious Christmas dinner.

Do you want to make a great impression at a Christmas dinner? Impress your parents in law? Then don’t show up empty-handed! Our Christmas pack is the a perfect gift to bring along. You can even enjoy the beers yourself. Share each beers with 2 or 3 people between dishes and make your Christmas dinner a real beery Christmas dinner. But when should you drink each beer?

 The Christmas drinks or abeeritif 

Who needs an aperitif when you can have an abeeritif! Try and choose 3 of these 6 beers before dinner is served.

Start with: 

• Ciney Blond, a typical Belgian blond beer that is not too complicated. It’s somewhat fruity and sweet. Not too extreme and therefore a nice, easy start.

• Or Mort Subite Kriek, a super-fruity, sweet beer with a sour touch. Nice to taste with the chocolates that are left from the tea!

Then:

• You taste Wazig from Bruut, a fresh fruity, misty IPA that perfectly serves as an aperitif because of its hoppy character and bitter aftertaste.

• This also applies to Van Moll Toewijding. This is basically a blond Belgian beer, but from Eindhoven. The hoppy bite and bitterness makes it delicious and compliments the food well.

Last aperitif:

• is a Donker Wit from Gebrouwen door Vrouwen (Brewed by Women). A spicy beer brewed with cardamom and cinnamon that will shake your taste buds. A wintry wheat beer that fits well with your starter, if you have a quiche for example.

• Is there anything with meat on the menu as a starter? Then you finish the pre-dinner-drinks with Emelisse Black IPA. This sturdy beer with ample hop content will wake up your taste buds.

After the starter

While you wait and the host is preparing the main course, you can taste some more beers!

• Do you want to wake everybody up at the table? Then try Walhalla Nanouq, a powerful winter beer with a solid caramel malt base and three types of hops, which give various bitter experiences. The orange gives extra fruitiness and the aftertaste is long. Perfect to taste with the main course, especially when a nice piece of meat is served!

• Another option is Affligem Dubbel, an accessible, red-brown abbey beer. Fruity, sweet and with a nice spicy touch, a typical Belgian beer. Due to the slightly roasted caramel tones, this beer fits well with many Christmas main dishes. Serve the beer not too cold and enjoy it slowly.

Time for dessert?

After the main course you can of course go straight to the dessert. But you can also wait and let the food digest a little. 

• Then I love to try a next beer, Grutte Pier Tripel for example. As you expect from a tripel, it is fruity, sweet with a bitterness that balances with the rest of the beer. The fruity scents and spicy aftertaste make your taste buds ready for the dessert.

• Or you choose a Brand Blond before starting your dessert. Brand Blond is named best blond of the Netherlands during the Dutch Beer Challenge 2018. It is a strong blond beer with a not too thick body, nice fruity notes of pineapple and citrus with a hoppy bite after. 

Coffee as the final piece? No, beer!

So, that was a great meal! Time for coffee? At such moments I am still in the optimal enjoyment mode and like to finish with a strong beer.

• To really stay in the Christmas spirit, choose Most Wonderful Time For A Beer from Het Uiltje. Put on matching music and nip quietly from this extra heavy gruit beer. Gruit is a medieval spice mixture used for brewing beer, before hops became customary. It gives a complex spiciness to the beer that will remind you of liquorice, which combines beautifully with the caramel and toffee notes.

• If you don’t mind holding off a little on the Christmas spirit, VandeStreek Four Stroke is a good choice. A sweet quadruple dubbel bock, or "quadrubbelbock", matured in oak. You can taste it in the form of a nice touch of vanilla. The warm aftertaste makes it a fitting conclusion to the Christmas dinner.
